ABOUT THE BREED
A breed developed in the early 1960's, the Miniature American Shepherd was first recognised as the Miniature Australian Shepherd (Mini Aussie). Exactly as the name suggests, these dogs were a more compact breed with a strong work ethic due to their Australian Shepherd ancestry. The new name of Miniature American Shepherd, introduced in 2011, allowed Mini Aussies to be entered in the AKC as a breed in their own right. This additionally split the AKC registered Australian Shepherd into two breeds; allowing Miniature American Shepherds to be registered as a separate breed, as well as allowing previously registered Australian Shepherds to be re-registered as Miniature Americans. The preferred height range for the breed is 14-18 inches (35-46cm) at the withers. Colours range from black, blue merle, red and red merle, with or without tan points. The focus for our kennel is to breed Minis with excellent temperaments, type and working ability, that will adapt well to dog sport, as well as being the perfect family pet.
